Overview

Quiet, unpretentious luxury is what the Avalon offers, and it does so at a price that won’t break the bank. A standard V-6 enables brisk acceleration, but fuel-conscious buyers can opt for a less powerful but efficient hybrid setup that delivered 43 mpg in our testing. Handling is surprisingly agile for a car this size, particularly in XSE and Touring trims, but it’s no sports sedan. To sweeten the deal, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist are standard.
