UPDATE 10/29/25: A representative for Honda confirmed that the 0-series Alpha will not be sold in the United States.
Honda's lineup of 0-series electric vehicles is getting closer to production, and the brand is celebrating by revealing a new addition to the family. The 0-series arsenal already consists of two prototypes, the sleek Saloon and an equally streamlined SUV, but now Honda is unveiling a smaller and more budget-focused SUV called the Alpha ahead of the Tokyo auto show.
According to Honda, the newest addition to the 0-series family joins the lineup as a "gateway model," meaning that it will likely be smaller and more affordable than the preceding 0-series cars. We don't have detailed pricing yet, but we think it's a safe bet that the Alpha will come in well under the $50,000 mark.

It doesn't take an eagle-eyed viewer to notice that the Alpha looks strikingly similar to the 0-series SUV prototype shown in January. That said, there are subtle differences between the two. The SUV's front bumper features a continuous body-colored panel that stretches across the fascia, while the Alpha's bumper has two body-colored panels on the outer edges. The lighting design is also distinct, with the SUV concept using a pixel matrix for the headlights and the Alpha concept opting for a light bar that extends across the full width of the car.
While we don't have the official measurements to prove it yet, the Alpha's hood appears to be shorter and flatter than the hood on the SUV. Additionally, the Alpha's cabin looks to be taller and more upright, which pairs with what we believe is a shorter wheelbase. The Alpha also moves the charging port from its location on the SUV's front bumper and into the black panel integrated into the front of the car. The rear styling is essentially the same, although the Alpha features a larger rear window versus the narrow slit found on the 0-series SUV prototype.
According to Honda, global sales of the Alpha will begin in 2027. Unfortunately, the automaker hasn't confirmed yet if we'll be getting the new model in the United States. We know that both the Saloon and SUV are headed our way, but Honda would only confirm that it is prioritizing sales in Japan and India with the Alpha, leading us to worry that we may not get it at all.
