Overview

The 2019 Kia K900 is the Korean company's largest and fanciest model, but it's also probably the most overlooked. The full-size luxury sedan was completely redesigned for 2019, and it shares a chassis with its corporate sibling—the Genesis G90. While that version wears a ritzier badge, the Kia offers similarly extravagant content for an even more affordable price.

Engines, Ride, and Handling

Under the hood, every K900 packs a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 that makes 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Its engine hooks up to an eight-speed automatic transmission that feeds a standard all-wheel-drive system, which also can route up to 80 percent of power to the rear wheels. The version we tested hustled from zero to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, and its powertrain helped moved this bougie barge with quiet authority around town and on the highway. The K900's cushy ride lives up to its luxury mission, but don't expect much feedback from its steering. The standard drive modes allow users to adjust the adaptive dampers, powertrain responses, and steering weight. Our test vehicle also showcased surprising handling limits that include impressive cornering grip and a short emergency-braking distance.

Interior and Technology

The K900's cabin may not match what you'd find on a Mercedes-Benz, but it sure has enough style and substance to support its accessible price. The fake wood reveals its cost-cutting compromises; however, its supremely comfortable front seats and spacious rear quarters meet expectations. Standard amenities include customizable ambient interior lighting, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The K900 also has extensive standard technology such as a huge head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The roster of driver-assist technologies boasts a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and more.
