Get a closer look at the new Mercedes-Benz driver-assistance technology on the road.
DriveAssist Pro isn't an evolution of Drive Pilot, but rather a different feature with its own capabilities. Mercedes candidly calls it Level 2-plus-plus, because like other Level 2 systems, such as MB.Drive Assist or General Motors Super Cruise, a driver still has to pay attention. Here it's shown in action in the California Bay Area.

We sampled the Mercedes technology from the passenger seat of a new CLA in San Francisco with a Mercedes engineer behind the wheel.
The system works impressively well. It accelerates briskly, bends the rules like any sane human, and asserts itself in intersections.
You still need to pay attention and may need to take over, but for all intents and purposes it's like a Waymo you drive in the driver's seat.
Unlike Tesla's Full Self-Driving, which uses just a camera feed to do supervised point-to-point navigation, MB.Drive Assist Pro is made possible with 10 cameras, five radar sensors, and a dozen ultrasonic sensors.
