After a six-year run, the Mercedes-Benz GLB-class is entering its second generation, with the hybrid model seen here now accompanied by an electric variant that replaces the previous EQB.
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLB-class retains the squared-off shape of the first-generation, but wears a new face that is similar to the look seen on the 2027 CLA-class sedan.
The front end now features a wide-mouthed grille with a large Mercedes badge and chrome trim, and the headlights are linked by a light bar that runs above the grille.
Around back, the taillights run the full width of the SUV before hooking down at the outer edges of the GLB to create an upside-down U-shape.
The lights at the front and rear also now have integrated three-pointed stars, referencing the iconic Mercedes-Benz logo and following the trend set forth by the E-class sedan.
The hybrid version of the new GLB appears to use the same powertrain as the hybrid CLA, pairing a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with a 48-volt hybrid system.
This is also hooked up to a 1.3-kWh battery and a 27-horsepower electric motor that lives within the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The hybrid GLB can run exclusively on electric power at low speeds in the city, and the electric motor can also send energy back into the battery under braking.
The new GLB's wheelbase is 2.4 inches longer than the outgoing model, giving the boxy SUV more interior space.
The electric GLB variants will launch first at the end of 2026, with the hybrid arriving later, likely in early 2027.
