Peep inside the new Jeep Recon and you'll find a space that draws inspiration from the popular Wrangler, but the brand's new EV also introduces some new ideas. The Moab trim seen in these photos will start at $66,995 when it goes on sale sometime next spring.
If the Recon's horizontal dashboard, with a grab handle for the front passenger, looks familiar, that's because it takes some cues from the Wrangler.
The driver grips a square-shaped steering wheel and faces a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
The 14.5-inch center touchscreen runs Uconnect 5 software, which allows over-the-air updates and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Recon's rotary shifter helps save space on the center console, which has room for cupholders and drive-mode selectors.
Jeep says taking the Recon's doors off can be done in minutes and doesn't require any tools.
The Moab model available at launch features a tan interior that Jeep says was inspired by the famous Joshua Tree National Park in California.
Folding the rear seats creates a flat load floor, and the Recon boasts up to 66 cubic feet of cargo space.
At the top of the Recon's dash is a modular rail system for mounting GoPro cameras and other accessories.
While we wish the Recon had physical switchgear for the HVAC system, we're glad that Jeep at least provides volume and tuning knobs.
You won't find storage space like this under the Wrangler's center console because, well, there's no space under its console.
