Nissan has unveiled a new plug-in hybrid variant of the popular Rogue SUV for the 2026 model year, drawing heavily upon its platform mate, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid looks essentially the same as the Outlander PHEV, with the styling differing significantly from the nonhybrid Rogue.
The biggest change is a revised grille, with unique chrome bars surrounding the Nissan badge and the chrome C-shaped elements from the Outlander now painted half black, half body color.
The rest of the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid is adorned with black trim to match the black 20-inch wheels, with a black bar added to link the taillights.
The Rogue PHEV uses the same powertrain as the Outlander PHEV: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack with 16.8 kWh of estimated usable capacity.
The hybrid system's combined output is listed at 248 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.
While Nissan didn't provide any stats, it says the PHEV will be quicker than the nonhybrid Rogue, and the Outlander PHEV reached 60 mph 1.4 seconds ahead of the standard Rogue in Car and Driver testing.
The battery provides an electric-only driving range of 38 miles, and it takes 7.5 hours to recharge on a Level 2 home charger.
The Rogue PHEV earns an EPA rating of 64 MPGe when accounting for its electric assistance, or 26 mpg combined when just using the gas engine.
The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid goes on sale in early 2026, available in two trims, SL and Platinum.
