The M5 Touring is the wagon version of BMW's supersedan, and the longroof is coming to America for the first time.
There have been Touring versions of the M5 before, but this variant has never been sold in the U.S. market.
In fact, there's never been an M wagon sold here at all, so this is a big deal for enthusiasts.
The M5 Touring has the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the sedan. It uses a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8.
Total output sits at 717 horsepower, and all-wheel drive is standard.
The M5 Touring even has an EPA-rated electric range of 25 miles on a full charge.
Compared with the sedan, we like the looks of the wagon a lot more.
The latest M5 is a big, heavy car, and the wagon is even heavier than the sedan, weighing in at 5481 pounds on our scales.
This color is called Marina Bay Blue Metallic.
Our test car was equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, an $8500 option.
The 577-hp V-8 on its own is plenty powerful, and the electric motor provides a 194-hp boost, getting the M5 Touring to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds in our testing.
