Ford's latest attempt at building a world-class Mustang has proved quite successful. But can we say the same once it's pitted against a ubiquitous track annihilator from Germany?
Unless you're a big fan of IMSA, this is probably a matchup you didn't see coming.
The Mustang GTD is agile, but its muscle car roots are quite evident, nowhere more so than under the hood, where an 815-hp supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 resides.
The Porsche sticks to tradition, rocking a 4.0-liter flat-six making 518 horsepower.
You'd think that the Mustang would dog-walk the Porsche in a straight line, but the Ford's carrying over 1000 pounds more mass.
In fact, the Porsche nipped the Ford to 60, besting it by a single tenth, 2.7 seconds versus the American's 2.8.
