The 2009 Honda S2000 CR was a track-day special that never got much love back in the day but is now viewed as the purist's version of a purist's car.
The S2000 CR traded the regular S2000's soft top for a fixed hard top, which meant leaving your lid at home on sunny days.
The big rear wing didn't exactly complement the S2000's lines but it did help reduce aerodynamic lift.
One reason for the hard top: many tracks disallow convertibles.
The S2000's 237-hp four-cylinder was unchanged in the CR.
The CR got a quicker steering ratio and wider rear tires.
VTEC engages at 6000 rpm and from there it's a party till the 8000-rpm redline.
The removal of sound deadening helped the CR lose as much as 99 pounds of weight compared to the standard S2000.
The CR was so hardcore that a radio and air conditioning were optional.
The aero lip at the front end is, like the rear wing, an item that's there for aerodynamics rather than aesthetics.
