The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a longtime C/D EV darling. But is it the better car than the immensely popular Tesla Model Y?
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 provides a solid blend of driving dynamics, range, and features, and it's one of our favorite EVs.
While its shape hasn't changed since its introduction, Hyundai did finally see fit to add a rear windshield wiper, which provides a huge boon to rear visibility in inclement weather.
At 4.6 seconds to 60 mph, the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD proved a half-second quicker than the Tesla Model Y Long Range (now called Premium) RWD.
The Ioniq 5's skidpad grip came in at 0.87 g, 0.01 g better than the Model Y managed.
The Ioniq 5 also offers vastly more adjustability in the regenerative-braking department, including a no-regen coast mode that the Tesla lacks.
