Small cr0ssovers seem like the ideal candidate for cookie-cutter design. After all, these cars are more about fulfilling needs than wants. But each of the seven vehicles we brought together for this comparison have vastly different interiors, and each places a different focus on things like fit and finish, infotainment display layouts, and the like.
Much like our overall opinion of the thing, the Subaru Crosstrek's interior does things well while doing nothing exceptionally.
The Subaru's thrones had some decent bolstering, but not so much as to feel constraining.
Perhaps our biggest gripe with the Subaru's interior is its infotainment screen, which takes forever to boot and doesn't respond much quicker once it's warmed up a bit.
The Subaru's back seats were, again, midpack in terms of both space and overall comfort.
The Crosstrek's seats-up cargo volume is smallest in the test.

The Kona proved quite spacious. Adding a few inches to the wheelbase will do that.
