The Mazda CX-30 takes everything we love about the automaker—namely, its vehicles' driving dynamics and premium interiors—and folds it down into a subcompact format.
Our CX-30 test car arrived with the beefier of the two engines on offer.
Base models get a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four producing 191 horsepower, but Turbo models add (believe it or not) a turbocharger, with output rising to a more palatable 250 horses.
In our hands, the CX-30 Turbo scooted its way to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, well ahead of the base engine's 7.5-second sprint.
But while it's high on style, the CX-30 is light on practicality.
The CX-30 offers some of the least cargo capacity in its segment, and the back seat can be a tight fit for adults (and even for rear-facing child seats).
