The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is the street-performance version of Ford's smallest pickup. It gets all-wheel drive and a torque-vectoring rear end paired with the 250-hp turbo four-cylinder found in other Mavericks. Straight-line performance is similar to its peers with this engine, but the Lobo is more fun in the corners—for as long as its tires hold out, at least.
The Maverick's turbofan-style wheels give it a WRC rally-car vibe.
A heavy-duty cooling system was borrowed from the tow package.
The Maverick Lobo looks the part of a performance truck, crouched on a suspension that's lowered a half-inch up front and 1.1 inches at the rear.
The seven-speed automatic transmission is unique to the Lobo—it's the eight-speed, really, but programmed to skip second gear. Ford figures that if you're driving on a tight track or autocross course, a wider gap in the lower ratios is actually preferable over constant hunting between gears.
The Lobo hits 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds at 95 mph, the former stat being just 0.1 second ahead of the Maverick XLT FX4. They're dead even in the quarter.
The Lobo required 188 feet to stop from 70 mph. Blame its Goodyear Wrangler Territory HTs, all-season tires that are efficient but miserable in the corners.
In Lobo mode, the Maverick was tail-happy and exuberant, wanting to drift, but nonetheless posted only 0.85 g on the skidpad.
The Lobo would be good fun on an autocross course.
Lobo owners' first mod? It should definitely be a tire swap.
We think this is probably the biggest wheel-and-tire package they could fit on a Maverick—225/55R-19.
