Get a closer look at the carbon-fiber-rich interior and exterior of the Ford Mustang GTD.
Ford rolled out a new version of the Mustang GTD called the Liquid Carbon, describing it as "the ultimate expression of the Mustang GTD's high-tech, high-performance construction." The Liquid Carbon is down 13 pounds compared to a Mustang GTD Carbon Series with the Performance package.
Deleting paint is both a weight saver and a style choice.
The doors swap sheetmetal for bonded carbon fiber, another weight-saving move.
Inside, the microfiber seating features a reflective pattern that runs down the middle of the seats.
Hyper Lime stitching is found on the seats, doors, center console, instrument panel, and steering wheel.
The Liquid Carbon package can only be had as long as you also order the Performance package, which adds magnesium wheels and more aerodynamic doodads while stripping out sound deadening.
The powertrain is unchanged, with the supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine producing 815 horsepower.
Like all other Mustang GTDs, that oomph is sent to the rear wheels via a carbon-fiber driveshaft and an eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle.
There's no word on price yet for the Liquid Carbon package, but considering that the Mustang GTD already starts well over $300,000, it will likely be pricey.
