After showing off the Concept Skytop at last year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, BMW has returned with the Concept Speedtop, essentially a shooting brake version of the convertible revealed in 2024. Just like the Skytop, the Speedtop is set to be built in extremely limited numbers.
The Speedtop's front end is effectively identical to that of the Skytop, with thin, squinting headlights and a large kidney grille that comes to a point like the prow of a ship.
The big change comes at the rear, where the roof extends backwards to form a sleek hatchback.
Like the Skytop, the Speedtop features crisp character lines and muscular rear haunches.
The shooting brake roof gives the Speedtop an aerodynamic silhouette, and the unique 14-spoke wheels add to the athletic stance.
A small metal spine emerges from the roof ahead of the rear spoiler, emulating a similar spine on the Speedtop's hood and incorporating a gradient paint effect.
The gradient sees the rich Floating Sunstone Maroon paint elegantly fade into Floating Sundown Silver.
Like the Skytop, the Speedtop is based on the 8-series, and the shooting brake's bones are evident from the cabin.
Still, the Speedtop is distinguished by copious amounts of leather, with a Sundown Maroon upper section and Moonstone White on the lower portions of the cabin.
Instead of rear seats, the Speedtop features special storage for a set of matching bags crafted by Italian leather specialists Schedoni.
BMW plans to only build 70 units of the Speedtop, and we expect prices to run at around $500,000.
