After Aston Martin dropped the base DBX SUV for the 2025 model year, leaving just the 697-hp DBX 707, the British automaker is adding a new range topper to its SUV's lineup in the form of the 2026 DBX S.
The DBX S still features the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine, but the engine is more powerful than before thanks to improvements adopted from the Valhalla plug-in hybrid supercar.
Revised turbochargers result in an extra 20 horsepower, pushing output to 717 horsepower overall.
Aston Martin claims the DBX S will accelerate to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, but it should go even faster given that we tested a DBX 707 at 3.1 seconds to 60 mph.
The same all-wheel-drive system and nine-speed automatic gearbox remain, although the transmission has been reprogrammed for snappier downshifts in the Sport and Sport+ modes.
Aston Martin will offer an array of optional equipment to shave weight off the DBX S, including a carbon-fiber roof that removes the roof rails and saves almost 40 pounds.
The DBX S can also be ordered with magnesium wheels. The 23-inch units improve the ride and steering feel while eliminating nearly 42 pounds of unsprung mass from the SUV.
The cabin gets decked out with Alcantara on the seats, headliner, center console, and dashboard, although buyers can also have the interior upholstered in semi-aniline leather.
The DBX S also packs neat-looking seats with a herringbone design and red seatbelts.
The exterior wears a revised front splitter, rear diffuser, and an "S" badge on the front fender.
