Volkswagen has retired the Golf R's manual transmission, but the refreshed 2025 model inherits desirable options from its European counterpart and other upgrades.
The Golf R's new face has restyled headlights that swivel with the steering wheel, a light-up front VW logo, and wider openings to help the hot hatch breathe better.
A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is the sole transmission, and it pairs with VW's venerable EA888 turbo four, which now makes 328 horsepower (up from 315).
The Golf R's newly minted 19-inch forged wheels are standard and remove 16 pounds from the scales.
The new Euro Style package ($3795) brings exclusive parts to the U.S. market, including a lighter and louder Akrapovič exhaust and weight-saving ArtVelours seats.
Prices start at $48,325, but opting for the Black Edition pushes the price to $49,640. A fully loaded 2025 VW Golf R can exceed $53,435.
