The 2025 VW Golf GTI's refresh ignores the mechanicals and focuses on tweaks to both style and tech. The latter will be especially appreciated by anyone who's driven an eighth-generation GTI.

The GTI's steering wheel at long last has hard buttons again instead of the finicky capacitive controls that plagued previous eighth-gen models.
The SE trim now comes standard with racy ArtVelours upholstery that was previously reserved for the Euro-only GTI Clubsport model.
The old infotainment touchscreen has been replaced with a larger 12.9-inch display that's easier to use but still lacks the physical buttons we prefer.
The GTI's performance credentials combine with its impressive practicality. It has an adult-friendly back seat and 20 cubic feet of cargo space.
