The Mercedes-Benz Vision V may look like a flight of fancy, but this luxurious van concept will become real within the next couple of years riding on a new VAN.EA platform with an electric powertrain.
The Vision V features short overhangs, with the wheels pushed out to the corners of the vehicle to create a planted and assertive stance.
Those wheels measure 24 inches in diameter and the bold five-spoke chrome design is accented by illuminated strips.
Chrome adorns much of Vision V's exterior from the wheels to the grille and the thick B-pillar.
At the rear, a single lighting element wraps around a gigantic pane of glass, comprising both the taillight and brake lights.
Up front, Mercedes reimagined its iconic grille with chrome and illuminated trim, since the grille doesn't need to be open for cooling with an electric powertrain.
A massive side door slides open to allow access to the cabin, with light-up, retractable running boards helping ease ingress and egress.
The grille sits beneath a proud three-pointed-star hood ornament, which is also illuminated.
The headlights, which also feature the three-pointed-star motif, are linked by a front light bar.
The Vision V is expected to enter production at some next year and will introduce the concept of a luxury minivan, long limited to Asian car markets, to the United States.
