A 2025 Subaru Forester Sport joins our long-term fleet for 40,000 miles of road trips, grocery-store visits, and heaven only knows what else.

Under the hood is a 2.5-liter flat-four. Power is down from 182 horsepower to 180, but torque rises from 176 pound-feet to 178.

Our initial testing shows those tweaks are mostly a wash, though; the Forester Sport still needed 8.4 seconds to reach 60 mph.

While the average new-car transaction price remains near the $50,000-mark, this Subaru feels positively affordable. Our long-term tester has just one option pack and rings in at $37,730.
