The 2025 Mini Cooper S convertible plays the Goldilocks card, providing a more affordable alternative to the potent John Cooper Works droptop.
The Mini Cooper S, no matter what form it takes, relies on a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four.
Output is 201 horsepower and 221 pound feet of torque, improvements of 40 horsepower and 37 pound-feet over the standard Cooper.
At $38,375 before options, the Cooper S convertible is about $6000 less expensive than a John Cooper Works ragtop.
Mini estimates that the Cooper S 'vert will reach 60 mph in 6.7 seconds.
Considering how quick the Cooper S coupe we tested was, we expect our testing to deliver a 60-mph sprint closer to 6.2 seconds.
The convertible top works in two stages, first acting as a large sunroof before fully opening.
There isn't much cargo space on offer. At 5.2 cubic feet, the convertible only has about 58 percent of the stowage space that the coupe offers.
