The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance is a hybrid tuner riff on the GT63 S that debuted for 2019, augmenting that car's 630-hp V-8 with a 201-hp electric motor to create the most powerful series-production Mercedes ever.
Signature Sunburst Yellow paint goes a long way toward advertising the GT63's capabilities.
The Manufaktur yellow hue is a $6500 option.
The AMG Aerodynamics package includes a prominent fixed rear spoiler.
The E Performance hits 60 mph in an astounding 2.4 seconds.
The car's 5-kWh battery can power the 201-hp electric motor at full power for just 10 seconds at a time, but good luck finding anywhere to go wide open for 10 seconds in a car that hits 100 mph in 5.9 seconds.
Base price: $196,050—or roughly twice that of a GT43 model.
The example shown stickered for $222,110. But you could save $250 by skipping the MBUX interior assistant.
That long hood implies weight up front, but the E Performance actually has slightly rear-biased weight distribution thanks to the rear-mounted hybrid hardware.
AMG didn't need to touch the engine to arrive at a much quicker GT63 S. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 makes 630 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.
That "E Performance" badge is a subtle callout to the GT63 S's ability to dispatch the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph.
