See exterior photos of the 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid Wagon, which packs a 604-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Mercedes launched the AMG E53 sedan last year and has now transplanted the same plug-in hybrid powertrain into the E-class wagon body.
The E53 features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, with the latter integrated into the gearbox.
The electric motor is good for 161 horsepower, with the hybrid system combining for 577 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
In Race Start mode, part of the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, the E53 increases output to 604 horsepower.
The power is routed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes claims the E53 wagon will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
The top speed is capped at 155 mph unless you spring for the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which raises the maximum velocity to 174 mph.
A 21-kWh, 400-volt battery lives under the floor in the trunk and should provide around 42 miles of range based on the specs for the E53 sedan.
The Dynamic Plus package also adds other goodies like bigger brakes and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
Mercedes has yet to reveal pricing for the E53 wagon, but we expect the powerful longroof to start in the mid-$90,000 range.
