After two years of delays, Mercedes-AMG is finally ready to sell the GT63 S E Performance sedan in the United States, with the high-powered plug-in-hybrid four-door hitting dealerships for the 2025 model year.
The GT63 S E Performance features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 hooked up to a single electric motor that is mounted on the rear axle.
The battery is hooked up to a battery with 4.8 kWh of usable capacity, but Mercedes doesn't quote a range figure, instead stating that the battery is "designed for fast power delivery."
The hybrid powertrain produces a total of 831 horsepower and 1032 pound-feet of torque.
All of that oomph is sent through a nine-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels.
Mercedes claims that the GT63 S E Performance will rip from zero t0 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds before hitting a 197-mph top speed.
While Mercedes says the battery is focused on boosting performance, the GT63 S E Performance does have an electric-only drive mode. A Battery Hold setting maintains the level of charge, and there's a trio of performance modes: Sport, Sport+, and Race.
The plug-in-hybrid GT63 sedan also features four different levels of regenerative braking.
Visual changes are minor for the E Performance model, mainly highlighted by unique badges and the charge port door on the rear bumper.
Pricing for the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance four-door sedan will start at $200,100.
