Under the XT's hood is a 260-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four.
For the Outback, this engine makes less horsepower than it does in the WRX (which gets a 271-hp tune), but torque is beefed up.
We always recommend winter tires if they're in your budget, but an Outback on all-seasons is still a plenty capable car in the snow.
