Can an 818-horsepower electric sports car handle winter driving? We sampled the 2025 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore in northern Italy and discovered the answer is yes.
Maserati set up a challenging ice race track for us to put the GranTurismo Folgore through its paces.
The all-wheel drive sports car's battery and electric motors are arranged in such a way that there's a slight weight bias toward the back.
This made the GranTurismo Folgore a little easier to coax into a powerslide on the ice and snow than the Grecale Folgore SUV, but it still took practice to get it right.
The GranTurismo's elegant styling looks great against the backdrop of the Italian Alps.
And we doubt many owners of such a lovely machine will try their hand at hooning in the snow.
Even if for the most part the GranTurismo Folgore spends most of its time on paved roads, isn't it nice to know what it can do?
The Folgore models look much the same as the gas-powered variants, but the GranTurismo's side-mounted vents aren't needed on the electric version so the brand's designers turned them into clever side marker lights instead.
All of Maserati's wheel designs take inspiration from the brand's trident logo, including the Folgore-specific rims on our sample car.
In addition to the Folgore script on the front fenders, you can tell the electric version apart from the gas car if it has these copper-colored exterior trim pieces.
The GranTurismo Folgore can be fun on an ice race track one minute and then serve as a quiet and comfortable all-season sports car the next.
