Gordon Murray wanted to make a driver’s car: lighter, more fuel-efficient, and better balanced than his famous McLaren F1.

For a supercar, the T.50 sits on smallish wheels and tires, 235/35ZR-19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in the front and 295/30ZR-20s in the rear.

When Murray needed an engine, he went to Cosworth with several caveats. It had to be naturally aspirated and lightweight, with a low center of gravity. It needed to make at least 650 hp, have no belts, pulleys, or external accessories, and most challenging, it needed to rev above 12,000 rpm. Cosworth delivered with a 3.9-liter V-12.

The fan at the back isn't just to cool off the overexcited onlookers. It pulls air from beneath the car and, at sustained high speeds, works as a virtual longtail for better stability and fuel efficiency.
