The 2025 Infiniti QX60 picks up a fresh variable-compression turbo four, but its marginal fuel-economy boost is offset by, well, just about everything else.
The 2025 Infiniti QX60 ditches its V-6 in favor of Nissan's VC-Turbo engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder with a variable compression ratio.
In the QX60, the VC-Turbo makes 268 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque, 27 horses beneath the V-6 but carrying an additional 16 pound-feet of torque.
Both front- and all-wheel-drive variants of the QX60 get an EPA-estimated fuel economy boost over the outgoing V-6 models, but it's only a couple mpg here and there.
Despite weighing 39 pounds less than a V-6 QX60, the 2025 model is 1.3 seconds slower to 60 and 1.0 second slower in the quarter-mile sprint.
Wearing the same diameter wheels and the same tires as its predecessor, our 0.82-g skidpad result is 0.03 g worse than before.
Did we mention that the VC-Turbo also demands premium fuel, whereas its forebear did not? That'll eat into whatever mpg gains arise.
