Honda and Toyota have abandoned the performance variants of their popular mid-size sedans. Hyundai, on the other hand, keeps the tires and emotions lit with the 2024 Sonata N Line.
The 2024 Sonata received a thorough mid-cycle refresh that brought revised front and rear fascias.
The front now features a light bar that stretches the width of the car.
The rear has a new bumper cover and a revised taillight design.
The N Line's motivation comes from the same 2.5-liter turbo four as before. It produces 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
As a result of the missing summer tires, braking and skidpad performance suffer. We averaged 0.87 g around the pad, down from 0.93 g on summer tires.
Stops from 70 mph take 180 feet, 28 feet longer than we recorded on summer tires.
A new launch-control program enables easily repeatable race starts. It takes 5.4 seconds to reach 60 mph.
The summer-tire option went away in 2023, leaving the Pirelli P Zero all-seasons as the only rubber offered.
