Audi ups its EV game with its new SQ6 e-tron, the sportier version of the 2025 Q6 e-tron that introduces a new electrical architecture and infotainment setup to the brand.
The 2025 Audi SQ6 e-tron (and its lesser Q6 e-tron sibling) is the first Audi model to be built on the Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform shared with the Porsche Macan EV.
As a compact SUV, these new e-tron models effectively are electric alternatives to Audi's gas-burning Q5 and SQ5 models, the brand's bestsellers.
The SQ6 features dual motors and rear-biased all-wheel drive. Combined output is 483 horsepower, which increases to 510 horses when launch control is engaged.
We estimate the SQ6 should be good to reach 60 mph in around four seconds.
Audi estimates the SQ6's U.S. EPA range at 276 miles, and all dual-motor Q6 models are rated to tow up to 4400 pounds.
The PPE's 800-volt architecture allows for quicker charging cycles; Audi says the Q6 and SQ6's 94.4-kWh battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes.
The SQ6 e-tron features standard air springs and adaptive dampers, which bring an excellent ride-and-handling balance.
When it goes on sale late this year, the Audi SQ6 e-tron should start around $72,000, a sizable upcharge over the Q6's $66,000 estimated base price and significantly more than the current SQ5's $58,895 starting point.
