The 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron is available as a 50 and a 55 trim level during the same model year, but there's no badging on the car that will tell you which is which, and they cost the same. You absolutely want the 55 because it is more powerful, has better range and charging, and its suspension has been retuned for better handling.
Dimensionally, the Q4 55 e-tron Quattro is identical to the 50 model in every respect. You can't tell which is which by looking at them.
Our Q4 55 e-tron scampered to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds flat, thanks to its larger rear motor.
Total combined power for an Audi Q4 55 e-tron is 335 horsepower, up from 295 horses in the 2022 Q4 50 we last tested.
The Q4 Sportback 55 is EPA rated to go 258 miles on a charge. Our test car went 220 miles in our 75-mph range test.
The Sportback is 0.7 inch lower than the regular-roof SUV.
We don't know why anyone would spend $3000 more for a Sportback, which gets you less interior space and worse rear-seat access than the conventional SUV model. Still, you do have that choice.
The front environs are comfortable and upscale, but there is a wee bit too much piano-black trim for our liking.
We're not too sure about that "squircle" steering wheel, but that is part of an option package you can omit.
The available head-up display contains augmented reality animations that point you into the next navigation turn and underline the vehicle ahead.
