See exterior and interior images of the Rivian R3 and R3X, which act as smaller, entry-level SUVs.
Rivian has revealed the compact entry-level R3 and R3X, which both share a platform and powertrain with the mid-size R2.
The R3 and R3X are supposed to join Rivian's lineup in the next few years, and we expect them to arrive as 2027 models.
Although the R3 and R3X share the same platform as the R2, they measure around five inches shorter between the wheels.
The R3 and R3X sport a similar design language to the brand's previous models, with smooth surfacing, a rear light bar, and a front light bar interrupted by ovular headlights.
The cabin also feels familiar but includes an interesting ribbed design on the seats of the R3X, which fold flat in the front and rear.
We expect the R3 and R3X to come with a range of over 300 miles and charging times from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.
The R3X, seen here, is a brawnier variant that comes with the tri-motor powertrain from the top-spec R2.
It also has larger wheels and tires, more ground clearance, and front tow hooks.
We expect the standard R3 to be offered with single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains.
There's no pricing information available yet, but the R3 may start as low as $35K, with the R3X expected to start between $45K and $55K.
