The 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell features a hydrogen powertrain with plug-in capability. Along with a unique front-end design, the fuel-cell version of Honda's popular CR-V will only be available as a lease in California sometime later this year.
The hydrogen-fueled CR-V has a different face than its hybrid and nonhybrid counterparts.
Not only does the new CR-V Fuel Cell run on hydrogen, but it has a separate battery pack for electric propulsion.
The EPA estimates the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell has 270 miles of range.
The EPA also estimates that the CR-V Fuel Cell can travel 29 miles on electricity alone.
Honda says the CR-V Fuel Cell's powertrain has a peak output of 174 horsepower and 229 pound feet of torque.
While most of the hydrogen model's dimensions are virtually identical to other CR-Vs, it measures 2.8 inches longer overall.
Most people won't know they're sitting in a hydrogen-powered CR-V because the interior is largely the same as its siblings.
Every 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell is a Touring model and has standard features such as a digital gauge cluster.
Inside, the CR-V features a push-button shifter on its center console.
The CR-V's hydrogen tanks are located in the rear and clearly reduce its cargo capacity, although Honda doesn't say by how much.
