The Dodge Hornet GT is the entry-level trim but comes standard with a 268-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. It's got the power but might be a few tweaks away from realizing its potential.
Channeling 268 horses through a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, the Hornet GT hits 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.
Up to 100 mph, the Hornet GT is in a dead heat with its more expensive stablemate, the plug-in-hybrid Hornet R/T.
The Track pack is available on base models for $2995 and includes dual-mode dampers, fixed-caliper Brembo front brakes with red calipers, and 20-inch Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires.
A base 2024 Hornet GT costs $32,995. Even with the Track pack, it's still a good value.
Black and white paint are no-cost, but other hues, including this $595 Acapulco Gold, are an upcharge.
The Hornet GT generates 0.87 g on the skidpad, matching Dodge's claim.
The EPA says the Hornet GT gets 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, but we saw 18 mpg overall.
One advantage the GT has over the R/T: top speed. The R/T topped out at 118 mph, but the GT pulls to 140 mph, according to Dodge.
Leather is available on GT Plus trims (including a searing red hue) but less expensive trims can still get the black and red Alcantara upholstery with the Track pack.
