Part of what we love about the Lucid Air is its prodigious performance, whether we're talking about acceleration or efficiency. In the quest to scoop up more buyers, the Air Pure wields a smaller battery and leaves some performance at the curb, but with a lower price, it's quite the value play.
The Lucid Air Pure's rear-wheel-drive variant starts at $78,900, demonstrably lower than other trims, boosting its appeal next to the competition's pricier offerings.
A smaller 88.0-kWh battery pack replaces the 112.0-kWh monster from other trims, increasing rear-seat space a bit.
With optional 20-inch wheels, the Air Pure managed to offer 300 miles of range in our 75-mph highway range test.
A single synchronous AC motor in the back produces 430 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.
If you aren't a fan of the Air's gigantic glass roof, you'll be pleased to discover that the Pure doesn't have one. It's just a regular ol' roof.
We wish the regenerative braking system had a coast mode, but alas, it does not.
Taller occupants may have an issue with the Lucid's slick roofline, which makes ingress and egress a little tricky for the trees among us.
Once you're inside, though, there's a wealth of space—and a wealth of features relegated to onscreen operation, such as the wipers.
Even on its "value" trim, the Air's cabin feels special.
