Mercedes is cutting back its offerings by removing the C-class and E-class coupes from the lineup. The CLE53 coupe is here to fill the void left in their absence and splits the difference between the C43 and C63 AMG sedans.
Mercedes has announced an AMG version of the new CLE coupe called the CLE53.
As the 53 in the name suggests, the CLE53 will be positioned between the C43 and C63 sedans.
The manufacturer revealed photos of the European model, though we expect the same bodywork to make its way Stateside when the car goes on sale.
An optional AMG Performance Studio package adds visual flair to the front and rear fascia, as well as the spoiler lip and rear diffuser.
The front fenders are 2.3 inches wider than the standard CLE, while the rears are a full 3.0 inches larger.
The CLE 53 is powered by a 443-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder paired with a 48-volt hybrid system for a power boost at low engine speeds.
The interior follows similar changes to other 2024 AMG cars, including new materials and the AMG crest found on the headrests.
The optional AMG Performance Seat Package replaces the standard buckets for seats with more pronounced bolsters.
Drive modes can be swapped to one of five settings, including Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.
According to Mercedes, the CLE53 can launch to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.
