The Envista doesn't forget about Buick's leather-lined roots, and the result is a small SUV that, while awfully slow, provides a solid value for those seeking to ball out on a budget.
The Buick Envista is the automaker's new entry-level vehicle.
While the Envista is a small crossover and technically slots beneath the Encore GX, it's nearly a foot longer than its "larger" sibling.
Even with this fancy sloping roofline, the Envista offers ample rear headroom and a solid 21 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.
Under the hood is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gas engine putting out 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.
All-wheel drive is not available; front-wheel drive is standard, as is a six-speed automatic transmission.
It should not come as a surprise that the Envista is pokey; our acceleration testing resulted in a 9.3-second run to 60 mph.
The Envista is mighty quiet while it strains to move under its own weight, though, so, that's nice.
Since a heavy foot is required to reach highway speeds, our 25-mpg observed fuel economy fell short of EPA estimates, but on the highway we tied the feds' 32-mpg figure.
The Avenir is the Envista's top trim, but it's still quite affordable. Our test car rang in at $31,430.
