Get a closer look at a Rogue on mud tires, a manual Sentra with NISMO upgrades, and a Frontier built to race off-road.
With SEMA, an extravaganza of automotive aftermarket parts held every year in Las Vegas, Nevada, almost upon us, Nissan has released a glut of photos of three interesting concepts. The trio includes a jacked-up Rogue on mud terrains and various NISMO add-ons, a Sentra with a stick shift and souped-up turbo four, and a Frontier that looks ready to compete in the Baja 1000.
A lot of SUVs nowadays offer trims with tough facades, but this Nissan Rogue actually has the goods to get dirty. And it's name isn't subtle at all—Project Rugged Rogue.
Bronze front and black rear wheels are mounted on chunky Yokohama mud-terrain tires. This Rogue's ride height is also higher than your aunt Cheryl's, and its topographical livery is lit.
Amber running lights above the grille give this Nissan F-150 Raptor vibes. A pair of fog light mounted on a bull bar make this compact SUV look meaner.
Prototype NISMO parts are all of the Project Rugged Rogue. From the roof rack to the rock rails to the auxiliary lighting. Our favorite detail is the custom center-exit exhaust.
The last NISMO-badged Nissan Sentra was the opposite of legendary, but this Sentra DET concept traces its roots to the storied SE-R models.
Along with these 18-inch NISMO wheels on Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD09 summer tires, this Sentra concept's chassis has Nissan Z brakes and prototype coil-overs. There's a cat-back exhaust system too.
"DET" is an acronym for a sentence that's too wordy, but it relates to the concept's highly modified 2.0-liter turbo four, which pairs with a six-speed manual—a transmission no longer offered on the production Sentra.
Not many folks are racing their Nissan Frontiers, but they might be tempted to drive down to the Baja California Peninsula and try their hand behind the wheel of this off-road race truck developed by the Forsberg racing team.
Wearing more stickers than a traveling bands' guitar cases, the Forsberg Frontier actually participated in the NORRA 500 off-road race, with it featuring NISMO equipment such as a roof rack, light bar, and rock sliders.
These black beadlock NISMO wheels are mounted on gnarly Yokohama Geolander mud-terrain tires, which are buoyed by a lifted and enhanced suspension.
