Aston Martin's DB12 Volante, appropriately rolled out at the start of the Monterey Car Week festivities, is the open-topped version of the DB12, featuring the same 4.0-liter turbo V-8 and gorgeous 2+2 styling as the coupe. Although we can only show it to you for now with the top down, there's plenty to admire both inside and out in this gallery.
The 2024 Aston Martin DB12 Volante is billed as a "super tourer" that combines sports-car performance with Aston Martin–style grand touring character.
The Volante and the standard fixed-roof coupe have the same AMG-source 4.0-liter turbo V-8 that makes 671 horsepower and 590 pound-feet.
Sorry, no optional V-12 engine; if you want that, you'll want to look forward to the model that will replace the DBS Superleggera.
Aston Martin claims the DB12 convertible has 5 percent better torsional rigidity than the DB11 Volante had.
Another comparison is slightly less favorable, that the DB12 Volante weighs 24o pounds more than the coupe, meaning it should be around 4350 pounds total.
Aston Martin says 21-inch forged alloy wheels are standard, with specially tailored AML-coded Michelin Pilot S5 tires.
A substantive change from the previous Volante is in the cabin, with better ergonomics and design.
It will be a huge improvement to use the touchscreen interface compared with the turn-and-click controller that is on the DB11.
You aren't seeing them here, but four convertible-top fabric colors will be available: black, red, blue, and black/silver.
Aston says that the roof takes just 14 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close, with this possible at speeds of up to 31 mph.
