The Audi SQ5 is a performance version of the pleasantly-fine compact luxury Q5.
Under the hood of the SQ5 is a 349-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 with 369 pound-feet of torque.
Every SQ5 uses an eight-speed automatic and comes standard with Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
During our testing, the SQ5 knocked out an acceleration launch to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds.
This performance comes at a cost at the pump. The SQ5's EPA highway estimate is 24 mpg, while the not-so-exciting Q5 earned a 29 mpg estimate thanks to its smaller turbocharged four-cylinder.
The SQ5 is available as a boxier SUV or in a sleeker Sportback version at the expensive of some cargo space. The SUV version is pictured here.
Power-adjustable heated front seats are standard on the SQ5; you can get these neatly-stitched quilted leather seats for a little extra.
In the SQ5's cockpit sits two USB ports, three 12-volt outlets, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster is an extra worth adding, providing a satellite street view and navigation system just behind the steering wheel.
Adaptive cruise control, front and rear automated emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are all standard safety features included with every Audi SQ5.
Similar to what BMW and Mercedes-Benz offers, the SQ5 comes with a 4-year or 50,000-mile limited and powertrain warranty.
