We'd already taken a crack at Subaru's new Crosstrek with a 2.0-liter flat-four, but now it's time to bulk up. Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trims come with a 2.5-liter flat-four and will be built in Lafayette, Indiana.
The 2024 Crosstrek's 2.5-liter flat-four produces 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
That might sound low, but it's 30 horsepower and 33 pound-feet beefier than the 2.0-liter.
As you might expect in a Subaru, this 2.5-liter mates to a continuously variable automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
Peak torque arrives earlier—now at 3700 rpm—with this latest iteration of 2.5-liter engine.
The EPA estimates the 2.5-liter Crosstrek will achieve 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, only a hair less thrifty than 2.0-liter variants.
The 2024 Crosstrek Sport weighs 3333 pounds, according to Subaru.
That's 68 pounds heavier than its forebear, but the gains in reducing noise, vibration, and harshness are quite evident.
You can pick up a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport for $30,290.
Move up to the fancier Limited trim, and the price rises to $32,190.
