See inside and outside the 2023 Lexus ES300h, which we tested in its F Sport trim level.
Lexus now offers the hybrid version of the ES sedan with the F Sport Handling package. We're not convinced by the combination, as it doesn't feel all that sporty, but the ES300h is comfortable and efficient.
The ES300h is now Lexus's sole mid-size luxury sedan, since the GS was discontinued.
Based on the same platform as the Toyota Camry, the ES300h is front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive is available in the ES250 model.
The hybrid version only has 215 horsepower, which means the ES300h isn't nearly as quick as the 302-hp, V-6-powered ES350.
Fuel economy is the real benefit here, as the ES300h is rated at 44 mpg combined by the EPA.
The F Sport Handling package includes adaptive dampers, but they don't transform the ES into a sports sedan.
There is a lesser version of the F Sport package called F Sport Design that only includes the visual changes and not the suspension upgrades.
Our test car stickered for over $54,000, but the ES300h starts below $44,000.
The F Sport package also includes a rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels.
For 2023, Lexus revised the infotainment setup and removed the fussy old touchpad format. A touchscreen is now standard.
Our test car had the optional larger touchscreen, which we found easy to use.
