2023 BMW M340i xDrive exterior and interior photos.
The 2023 all-wheel-drive M340i xDrive picks up many of the same improvements BMW gives to the entire 3-series lineup, including a fresher face that once again avoids the vertical-snout treatment. While it's a good sports sedan at its core, the latest M340i still carries more than a little room for improvement, especially in the ride-quality department.
Up front, there are slimmer, simpler headlights and a revised lower air intake.
Out back, there's a set of trapezoidal tailpipes and a subtle rear spoiler.
The blacked-out Shadowline trim is standard as well.
A turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six still provides motive force, but it comes with a new 48-volt hybrid system.
The hybrid doesn't add to peak output, which remains 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
That torque gets sent to all four wheels by way of an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The M340i is a hell of a performer, reaching 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds during our testing.
This isn't even a full-fat M3, and it can still outaccelerate a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.
The M340i's ride quality is lacking, even in the adaptive suspension's softest setting.
