Acura is launching a high-performance version of the Integra hatchback called the Type S. It has the same powertrain as the Honda Civic Type R but more toned-down looks. We got to drive a prototype of the Type S at Honda's proving grounds in Japan.
So far, Acura said that the Type S has a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with over 300 horsepower.
It's front-wheel drive and has a limited-slip differential.
There’s a message in the pattern of this Integra’s camouflage.
The Type S arrives in summer 2023 and we should get more detailed info over the next few months.
A six-speed manual is likely to be the only transmission available.
The Type S has a more aggressive look than the standard Integra thanks to a wider body, larger wheels and tires, and three exhaust tips.
The Type S also offers summer tires, which aren't available on the base model.
There's no big rear wing like on the Civic Type R.
