At the Los Angeles auto show, Subaru unveiled the sixth-generation Impreza for 2024, which adds a new trim getting small boost in power. The new RS trim will receive the 2.5-liter flat-four from the Crosstrek, making it the most powerful car to carry the Impreza badge since the 2014 Impreza WRX STI. The Impreza is also dropping the sedan body style, so those who want one will need to look toward Subaru's WRX sedan.
The new Impreza gains a version of the dual-pinion electronic steering rack found in the WRX.
The new RS trim will produce 182 horsepower from its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
The Impreza's headlights have been updated but feature the same familiar hawlike angular design.
Subaru has not released pricing info, but the 2023 model starts at $20,815 and we expect the newer vehicle to come at a small increase from that.
The Impreza gains Subaru's 11.6-inch center screen for the first time.
In the new RS, the front seats are finished in a black cloth with red bolstering.
The RS trim also receives an upgraded steering wheel and shifter with a leather finish.
The exterior of the RS is marked by unique logos on the front doors and rear hatch, while the interior features carpeted floor mats with the RS logo.
Now offered as hatchback only, the Impreza is also dropping the five-speed manual transmission from its lineup.
Side mirrors on the Base and Sport trim match the body color, while the RS will come with black mirrors.
