The 2023 BMW i7 is the first electric 7-series. Unlike its rival Mercedes-Benz, however, BMW does not separate its battery-powered flagship as a car wholly separate from the gasoline-powered model. Instead, the i7 is just the EV variant in the new-generation 7-series lineup.
The 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 has dual motors and all-wheel drive. Total combined output is 536 horsepower and 549 pound-feet of torque.
The new 7-series is substantially larger than the outgoing version and larger than its luxury-segment competitors.
Only minor exterior details separate the electric i7 from the gasoline-powered 7-series models.
The fascia features oversized kidney grilles, daytime running lights at the upper edge, and headlights mounted below.
The 101.7-kWh battery delivers an EPA range of between 296 and 318 miles.
The driver faces dual LCD screens in a single, curved panel. There's a 12.3-inch screen that houses the digital instrumentation and a 14.9-inch center display for infotainment and other functions.
Optional for the rear seat is a Theater Screen, a 31-inch, 8K LCD screen that folds down from the ceiling.
Touchscreens in the door panels control rear-compartment functions.
Crystal-look switches are available.
The Panoramic Sky Lounge LED moonroof can produce a subtle light show at night.
BMW claims that recharging the battery from 10 to 80 percent should take 34 minutes at a 195-kW DC fast-charger.
