The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is like a regular Raptor, but louder and with a V-8 that has an extra 250 horsepower.
Ford might've been content to keep selling all the 450-hp V-6 Raptors it could build, but Ram upped the game with the 702-horsepower TRX. Thus, Ford's response: dropping the Shelby GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 in the Raptor R.

With a base price of $108,960, the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the most expensive F-150 in the lineup.
Other than its hood bulge and graphics (which buyers can delete), the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R looks much like an EcoBoost model with the 37-inch tire package.
The Raptor R uses the Shelby GT500's 5.2-liter V-8, tuned for truck duty: less horsepower, more torque. Here, the Predator makes 700 hp and 640 lb-ft.
The Raptor R loses one inch of front suspension travel relative to an EcoBoost Raptor on 35-inch tires, but it still has 13.0 inches up front.
Ford had to reinforce the Raptor's intake plumbing because the V-8 pulls so much air it was deforming under heavy throttle.
The rear locking differential can't be engaged in two-wheel-drive, meaning the brake-based limited slip function gets a workout on the dunes. To the point that the rear brakes can start glowing red.
On orange trucks, the orange R in the Raptor graphics (the lead R on the passenger's side, the second R on the driver's side) tends to disappear.
With 700 horsepower and 37-inch tires, the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is set up to sling plenty of sand out on the dunes.
Don't expect great fuel economy out on the dunes.
The Raptor R interior looks much like the EcoBoost Raptor's, except for the orange Rs. And the "R" mode button on the steering wheel.
