The 2023 Honda CR-V Sport Touring is a high-mpg all-wheel-drive hybrid that just happens to deliver a more sophisticated, serene, and substantial driving experience than any other CR-V in the current lineup . . . or ever.
The Sport Touring is available only as an all-wheel-drive model, but you can get the Sport in all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, a first for the CR-V hybrid.
All CR-Vs with all-wheel drive, hybrid or not, employ a new rear-drive system that can send as much as 50 percent of the drive torque to the rear wheels, not just 40 percent, as before.
Our Sport Touring test sample reached 60 mph in a respectable 7.9 seconds, which compares favorably to the 8.3 seconds needed by a front-drive EX-L nonhybrid, which weighed 302 pounds less.

The hybrid powertrain is standard on Sport and Sport Touring models, which also get black treatments on the grille, roof rails, mirror housings, and wheels.
The hybrid powertrain acts mostly as a series hybrid, with the 2.0-liter engine generating electricity for the 181-hp main drive motor. There are also two available gears that allow it to drive the wheels directly during cruising at steady speed.
