Kia's entry-level EV is pragmatic, if not exciting.

Kia's latest Niro EV is again part of a multi-pronged model lineup that includes both conventional hybrid and a plug-in hybrid iterations. The fully electric version delivers an EPA-rated 253 miles of range, but it lacks the 800-volt architecture (and performance) of the larger EV6. Its 201 horsepower puts it on even footing with competitors like the Chevy Bolt EUV and Volkswagen ID.4, and its "aero pillar" D-pillar helps it stand out amongst the crowd of small crossovers. But given the superiority of the EV6, the Niro EV's appeal is mainly rooted in its affordable price. Which hasn't yet been nailed down, but we expect to start at about $33,000.
